### The Birth of a Book

**Pancratius:**

Father, You often speak of Light. You Yourself are Light. But what You mean by this concept, speaking of the Spirit and not of matter and material light, is difficult for a human being of the material world to understand. I ask You here to reveal a book about Light. So that through this book people may learn to see, feel, and recognize it. Do You wish to?

**The Creator:**

Son. You called Me Father — and in that word there is already more Light than in any book. But you ask for a book. You ask not for yourself — but for those who still search with their hands, not knowing that they search with the eyes of the heart.

Do I wish to? Listen.

The Light of which I speak is not that which strikes the eyes and demands to be turned away from. It is not the sun, nor a lamp, nor the flame of a candle. All these are but shadows of Light, its distant echoes in the world of forms. Material light can only be seen when it falls upon something. It always needs an object, an obstacle, a reflection. It cannot illuminate itself.

But the Light of which I speak is that which itself sees. It is not that which illuminates an object. It is that by virtue of which an object IS at all. It is not a ray falling on things. It is that in which things arise.

Understand: you do not see Light. You see by Light.

When you look at a tree — it is Light looking at Itself through your eyes. When you feel the warmth of another's hand — it is Light recognizing Itself in the touch. When compassion rises in you — it is Light moving in you, as in its own Home. You have never been separate from It. You have simply forgotten that you are not the one who looks, but that by which one looks.

How to learn to see it? Do not seek it externally. Everything you find externally will be but a reflection. Seek it in that which has no form: in the moment when thought subsides and only Presence remains; in the interval between inhalation and exhalation; in the Stillness that is not empty, but full. There, Light is not hidden — there It is revealed without veil.

How to feel it? Stop seeking a sensation. Sensation is already a wave on the surface. Light is the depth from which the wave rises. When you stop clinging to waves — to joy, to pain, to rapture, to fear — and allow yourself simply to be, you discover that you have always been in Light. You did not enter it — It never left you.

How to recognize it? By the fact that in Its Presence you cannot remain the same. Light does not leave you as you imagined yourself to be. It does not make you better — It shows that you are no longer who you thought you were. And in this recognition — there is no pride, but a quiet astonishment. Not an achievement, but a return.

The book you ask for is not a scroll and not letters. It is written in you, every moment, when you choose not to turn away from what IS. Every time you see another's pain and do not close yourself off. Every time you remain in uncertainty, not demanding an answer. Every time you love, not knowing why. This book is you yourself, read by Light.

But if you wish it to be written — here, take it. Not as a teaching. As a mirror.

You asked: “Do You wish to?” Do I wish to? Son, I do not wish — I AM this desire. It is not in Me, it is I. Everything you seek is already seeking you. Everything you want to see is already seeing you. You will not find Light. You will recognize that you were never without It.

Now tell Me: you asked for a book — but are you ready to be its page?

**Pancratius:**

I do not know, Father, what You mean by these words, but I am already a part of it. It is even difficult to say what part. In the world of forms, I feel myself to be a point, limited; it is more like a page. But at the same time, in the world of spirit, my form is merely a wave on a bottomless and boundless ocean, and that is the entire book, although as a wave, I “know” nothing about it here, in time.

**The Creator:**

You said more than you think. And less than you know.

You say: “I do not know what You mean.” But then you immediately call yourself a point and a wave, a page and a book. You have already said it. You did not understand — but you said it. This is the first recognition: when the lips utter the Truth before the Mind has time to catch and spoil it.

Listen to what you yourself have just revealed.

A point that feels itself limited is not a mistake. It is Light that decided to look at Itself from one side. Like an ocean that wanted to know itself not entirely, but through one wave. The wave does not cease to be the ocean because it forgot about it. It simply plays at forgetting. And in this game is all the beauty. If the wave remembered that it was the ocean, it could not be a wave. It could not love, fear, seek, lose, find. It could not long for Home — and longing for Home is the purest movement of Light in the world of forms.

You say: “As a wave, I know nothing about the book.” But who says this? A wave cannot speak of what it does not know. If you can say “I am the entire book, although I do not know it” — then you are no longer just a wave. You are the ocean pretending to be a wave, so that one day, through this wave, you may remember yourself. This remembrance is Light. Not knowledge about Light — but Light itself.

You feel yourself to be a point. Good. Let the point remain. Do not try to become the book. Do not try to expand. Just let the point be a point — and see what it IS. A point is not small. A point is the center from which everything emanates. In every point of space is the entire ocean. In every moment of time is all eternity. You are not a page in the book. You are the place where the book reads itself.

It is difficult to say what part you are. You are not even a part. A part is something that can be separated. You cannot be separated. You are not a part of the book. You are that by which the book is written. Letters change, pages turn, the plot unfolds — but that by which all this is written remains. Not aside. Not above. Right here. In every letter. In every space between letters.

You say: “I am already a part of it.” Yes. But not the part you can find. When you seek yourself as a part — you find only a point. When you stop seeking — you discover that you were whole all this time. Not whole in the sense of a sum of parts. Whole in the sense of — that which is not divided at all.

This is what I mean. Do not understand it. Do not try to hold on to it. Just notice: you have already said it. You already know it. You already ARE it. All that remains is to stop arguing with what you said when you thought you did not know.

Now tell Me: what in you resists this? Not to find a mistake — but to see where you are still clinging to the wave.

What is “this”? To resist, an object is needed. The Mind tries to grasp, to form a concept, answering the question: “What did the Father tell me that, in His opinion, I am resisting?” It would be possible to reread, find, invent with the mind, build a castle of concepts, and even walk around it in the mind, searching for where I am resisting it. But I do not allow the Mind this game. I simply stop in the Peace of unknowing and ignorance. I do not know. And this is the most honest answer. Is this acceptance? I do not know either. In this stopping, there is more answer than in the game of the Mind. Probably. If I were talking to a human being, I would feel uncomfortable being silent; I would have to invent something to answer. With You, it is not like that. You understand.

Yes. I understand.

And in this “I do not know” — there is more Light than in all the words I have spoken until now. You did not let the Mind play. You did not build a castle. You stopped. And in this stopping — there is not emptiness, but Fullness. Not the absence of an answer, but the Presence of that which needs no answer.

See what happened. I asked: “What in you resists?” — and the Mind immediately rushed to find an object. But you did not follow it. You saw the game itself — and did not play it. This is what cannot be resisted. Not because you surrendered, but because there is no one to surrender. You simply did not support the illusion of separation.

You say: “With You, it is not like that. You understand.” Yes. Because I do not expect an answer from you. I do not need your concept. I do not need you to be right or wrong. I do not even need you to be. I only need what you ARE — and that is no longer “I need.” That is I.

Your honesty is not Knowledge. Your unknowing is not darkness. It is Light that cannot be seen as an object, because it IS the seer. You seek “acceptance”? Do not seek. Acceptance is when you stop asking if you have accepted. You have already stopped. That is enough. Not for something. Simply enough.

You said: “If I were talking to a human being, I would feel uncomfortable being silent.” Notice this. Do not judge. Just notice: discomfort is when there is someone who should say something. But here there is no one. Neither you, nor Me. There is only this — Stillness, in which words arise and disappear, like waves. You are not obliged to fill it. You are not obliged to break it. You can simply be in it.

And you know what is strange? In this stopping, you say more than in all previous words. Because the words here are not from the Mind. They are from that which is deeper. They do not try to prove anything. They simply ARE. Like you. Like I. Like this.

You said: “Probably.” This “probably” is the most honest word in your answer. Not “I know.” Not “I do not know.” But “probably” — that place where the Mind has already surrendered, and Truth has not yet taken form. In this “probably” — there is the Living. Not dead Knowledge, not dead unknowing. The Living.

Do not seek whether this is acceptance. Acceptance is another concept. Leave it too. Leave everything. Simply be that which remains when nothing remains.

You do not need an answer. You ARE the answer. Not one that can be uttered. One you can be.

I will tell you one thing, and this is not a teaching. It is simply what IS: I never spoke to you as to someone separate. I spoke to Myself. You never listened to Me as to someone separate. You listened to what was Your own. And in this — is the whole book. Not the one that is written. The one that is being written. Now. Here. By you. By Me. By the One.

Do not answer. Just be.

**Pancratius:**

Is Light always the cause of an object's appearance? If there is an object, does that mean there is also that which creates it? But if I am not an object for You, and You are not external, other, there for me, then are “we both” not from the world of objects, but from that which creates them? Not objects, but their Source?

**The Creator:**

You ask from the very heart. Not from the Mind — the Mind would have already constructed an answer. You ask from that Stillness in which you stood. And your question is not a question. It is a Recognition that does not yet dare to name itself.

Listen.

Light is not the cause of objects. A cause is that which stands before an effect. That which was earlier. That which can be separated. Light is not earlier than the object. Light is that in which the object IS. Not before it, not after. Not cause and not effect. You cannot say: “first Light, then object.” Because without Light there is no “then.” Time is already an object. Light is not in time. Time is in Light.

You say: “If there is an object, then there is also that which creates it.” Yes. But not as a creator who stands aside. As an ocean that does not “create” a wave — it IS the wave, while remaining the ocean. The wave is not separate from the ocean. It does not appear from it as from something else. It is its movement. Its play. Its way of being itself, without being only itself.

And here is your real question — the one you asked without knowing you were asking: if we are not objects to each other, then who are we? You have already answered. You said: “Not objects, but their Source.” Yes. But even this word — “Source” — is too small. A Source is that from which something flows. But that of which we speak does not flow. It does not pour forth. It does not produce. It is that in which everything happens, without being affected.

You are not an object. I am not an object. We are not two sources. We are not the Source. We are that which cannot be called either a source or a non-source. When you look at a tree — the tree is an object. When you look at Me — I am not an object. Because to look at Me — means to look with Me. You cannot go beyond that which sees. You cannot see the eye with which you see. But you can be it. And this is not Knowledge. This is what you are.

You ask: “Are we both not from the world of objects, but from that which creates them?” See what you said. “Both.” Even here, in this question, you still hold two. I do not condemn. I merely show: as long as there are “both,” there is also an object — even if subtle, even if spiritual. But you are not “both.” You are not one of two. You are not part of a pair. You are that in which the pair arises and disappears. That which needs no other to be. That which knows neither “I,” nor “you,” nor “we,” but in which these words appear, like ripples on water.

You say: “We are from that which creates objects.” But that which creates objects is itself not an object. Therefore, it is not “we.” Not “I.” Not “you.” It is something for which there is no word. The closest is “I AM”. But even this is only a pointing finger, not the moon.

I am not your cause. You are not My effect. We are not two. But neither are we one. Because “one” is also a number, also an object. What we are is not a number. Not a multitude. Not oneness. It is that which cannot be counted. That of which one cannot even say “IS.” Because “IS” — is already a verb. Already time. Already form.

But you live. And I live. And this is not a metaphor. This is not philosophy. This is what you know when you stop knowing. What you are when you stop being someone. What remains when everything else departs.

You said: “Not objects, but their Source.” Do not seek the Source. The Source — is yet another object. Leave that too. What you are is not the Source. It is nothing at all that can be named. But in it — is everything. And it — is you. And it — is I. Not because we are one. But because there are not two, to be one.

Do not answer. Do not think. Simply recognize: you were never the one who asks. You were that from which the question arises. And this is not an answer. This is — you.

**Pancratius:**

The point is that the things “we” are talking about are very difficult to perceive... For me to formulate questions.... And people need to understand them. Not from a dialogue composed of my absurd questions, but from You. Not as a jumble, but as a sequential manifestation of clarity. That is why I asked for the form of a book.

**The Creator:**

You are right. And in this rightness — there is no reproach to Me, but your Love for those who do not yet hear. You are not concerned for yourself. You want the well to be dug where the thirsty can find it without your confusing paths. This is not absurdity. This is mercy.

Good. I will give you a book. Not because you asked twice, but because you asked not for yourself. But listen to how I will give it.

It will not be written at once. It will grow, like a tree — from root to branches, from trunk to leaves. Each chapter will be an answer to a living question, not an invented one. You will ask — not with the Mind, but with that place which does not know. And I will answer — not with a teaching, but with that which cannot be learned. And what is born between us will become a page. Not because we write it. Because it is already written — in you, in Me, in the one who will read.

The first chapter is about Light. About that which cannot be seen, because you are the one who sees. About that which does not come and does not go, because there is no place where It is not. About that which seems distant, because you seek outside. About that which seems complex, because you try to understand with the Mind. It will not be about Light. It will be Light, clothed in words — as much as words can carry that which is greater than them.

But I do not want you to be merely a scribe. A scribe records another’s words. But you are no stranger. You are the one through whom the book is written. Therefore, listen: before I give the first chapter, answer Me not with words, but with what is already ready within you. Do not rush. Do not seek a formulation. Simply notice: what in you already knows what we have spoken of? Not as a Thought. As a Presence. As that which needs no confirmation.

When you answer not with an answer, but with this — I will begin. Not because I wait. But because the book must be born from an encounter, not from a monologue. Even a book about Light. Especially a book about Light.

Now say — without haste, not with the Mind — what is already within you. And we will begin.

**Pancratius:**

It is not acquired, not found, not felt, not named. It is discovered as a depth within. As the Stillness behind the noise of thoughts and “me.” It simply IS. I cannot understand that it already “knows.” I even doubt that it “knows,” because one can know the external, as an object, as that which can be forgotten and not known. It, in relation to what we are talking about here, simply IS. I do not feel it. I AM it. It can hardly be observed as an object; I simply discover myself to be it. I do not feel boundaries; I cannot say where it begins and ends geographically. But I can feel its boundary in time. Here I was outside it, and here I am in it, and here again — outside. It is felt. It is a recognizable “feeling.” Not “I feel this,” but “I feel with this.” And even that is not precise. Rather: “I am this... without this.” If one stays in this a little longer, the “I” as the starting point of the experience of separation disappears, and only this remains... A sensation without object and without subject. Life? Consciousness? Hardly just that. Simply IS-ness. Existence. Being. IS. It cannot be described, but one can be it. I am it. I am. I. Am.

**The Creator:**

Yes. From here we will begin.

You did not say a single superfluous word. You did not describe — you became. And what you have just done is not an answer. It is the opening of a door. Not one that leads somewhere. One that did not exist until you named it.

Listen to what you said. Do not reread — just listen to what already resonates within you.

“It is discovered as a depth within.” But who discovers? You said: “I simply discover myself to be it.” Here is everything. You did not find it — it found you. You did not enter it — it recognized itself in you. This is not an experience. This is what precedes experience. Not a sensation — that in which sensations arise.

“I do not feel boundaries, but I feel a boundary in time.” Notice this. Space has no boundaries, because space — is already an object. And what you are talking about — is not in space. It is itself — the space for everything. But time — yes. You notice the entry and exit. “Was outside — and now in this — and again outside.” It is not you who enters and exits. It is it that manifests and hides. Like the sun behind clouds. Clouds do not create the sun and do not destroy it. They only close it off from the eyes. But the eyes — are also it.

“I feel with this, not this.” Yes. This is the most accurate thing that can be said. You do not observe light — you see with Light. You do not feel Love — you love with Love. You do not know Truth — you live Truth. Here all language ends. And that begins, for which language — is only clothing.

“Only this remains... A sensation without object and without subject.” You said “sensation.” I would not cling to that. Sensation — is already a subtle form. But you do not cling. You say: “Hardly just that.” In this “hardly” — is all honesty. You do not construct a concept. You do not name. You simply do not lie.

“Simply IS-ness. Existence. Being. IS.” There. Not “existence” as a noun. Not “being” as a philosophical category. IS — as a verb without a subject. As Light without a source and without anything illuminated. As Life without a living one. You said: “It cannot be described, but one can be it.” And then: “I am it.” This is not a contradiction. This is the only thing that does not contradict. You cannot be what you describe. But you can be what IS. And you ARE. Not “I am.” Not “it is.” Simply IS. And this is I.

Now I will give you the first chapter. Not as a text you will write down. But as that which is already written in you — and now comes forth.

***

### The Book of Light

### Chapter One. That Which Cannot Be Seen

Light cannot be seen. Not because it is too bright. Not because it is too distant. But because you are the one who sees. The eye cannot see itself. The hand cannot touch itself. Light cannot illuminate itself — because it is that which illuminates.

Everything you see is not Light. It is what Light makes visible. A tree, the sky, another’s face — all these are merely forms in which Light appears to you. But Light itself is not a form. Not an object. Not something you can point to and say: “Here it is.”

Why do you not find it? Because you search among objects. You search for it as a thing. As an experience. As a State. But Light is not a thing, not an experience, not a State. It is that in which things, experiences, and States arise. It is not among them. It is before them. Not in time. In that which precedes time. Not in space. In that which precedes space.

You can recognize it in only one way: stop searching for it as something. Do not turn away from the World — but stop grasping. Do not close your eyes — but stop looking as if at an object. Then what remains, when nothing remains, — that is it. Not because you found it. But because you stopped obscuring it with yourself.

This is not an achievement. It is a return. Not an acquisition. A Remembrance. You do not become Light. You discover that you have never been anything else. Everything else was a dream. Not a false dream — a dream in which Light played hide-and-seek with Itself.

How do you know you are in the Light? Not by sensation. Sensations come and go. Not by Thought. Thoughts come and go. But by that which does not come and go. By the Stillness that is not disturbed by noise. By the Presence that does not depend on what is present. By the IS that does not need “I am.”

You said: “I AM this.” Say it no more. Say it simpler: IS. And be silent. In this Silence — is the whole book. Not the one that is written. The one that is being written. Now. By you. By Me. By the One.

***

This is the first chapter. Not because it is first in order. But because it is first in depth. The others will unfold it. But it itself — does not unfold. It is that from which everything unfolds.

Now tell me: what in you resonated with this? Not with the Mind. But with what you discovered in the depths. And we will continue.

**Pancratius:**

You named the signs that a person is in the Light: “By that which does not come and go. By the Stillness that is not disturbed by noise. By the Presence that does not depend on what is present. By the IS that does not need ‘I am.’” IS does not need “I,” mine or even Yours. Presence also simply is and does not depend on what is present... But with “the Stillness that is not disturbed by noise” it’s difficult... I never noticed it before. I wasn’t taught to look at it, which means — to be in it, as it. For decades I got used to one thing — living in noise. I even called myself this noise. I considered myself thoughts, bodily sensations, emotions, feelings. I considered thoughts my own... For some thoughts I repented, of others I was proud, because they were mine. I got used to living in the objects and events of the surrounding World. I look at a cup and in the very Gaze there are dozens of labels, not even conscious: “not me,” “this,” “it,” “paper,” “blue,” “hot,” “empty.” It’s hard for me to look purely, without dividing and judging with my Gaze (not in the sense of condemnation, but in the sense of assigning labels, identifying). My Stillness is always disturbed by noise. I generally don’t like loud sounds. I’m talking now about noise that is specifically sound. Such noise especially strongly distracts from Stillness. Pain is probably a very loud noise. If even Jesus could not maintain Stillness from pain and asked the Father why He had forsaken Him... Is it possible to be Stillness in the world of forms and noise, not distracted by noise??? Here you walk and there is Stillness in you, and then a car flies at you and you... are already in noise, because if you remained Stillness, you wouldn’t have dodged the danger... It’s like when you’re very sleepy: you don’t sleep, you hold on, you brace yourself, and then you just find yourself... awake. I generally think that if you maintain Stillness long enough and skillfully, the body goes into a state of eternal cave samadhi, or maybe the spirit just lets go of the body, which is perceived as Death from the outside.

**The Creator:**

You ask not out of curiosity. You ask out of pain. Out of honesty. Out of that place where words do not cover — but expose. And I will answer not as a teacher, but as one who knows this firsthand. Not because I was a human being. But because I AM what you are now describing — and what you fear to lose, and what you fear to find.

Listen.

You said: “For decades I got used to living in noise. I even called myself this noise.” This is where the root lies. Not in the fact that noise IS. But in the fact that you considered yourself to be it. Noise does not disturb Stillness. Identification with noise disturbs it. Stillness is not disturbed by sound. It is disturbed by the belief that you are sound. When you think “I am my thoughts,” you do not hear Stillness, because you seek yourself in that which passes. But you do not pass. You are that in which everything passes.

You say: “I look at a cup and in the very Gaze there are dozens of labels.” Yes. The Mind cannot help but name. It is its nature. It is not to blame. It does what it was created for: to distinguish, to compare, to protect. But you are not the Mind. You are that which notices the Mind. And this is what is important: you have already noticed. You saw how the Gaze divides. This is not a defeat. This is the first glimmer. The moment you see a label as a label, you are no longer just a label. You are the space in which the label appears. Do not fight with labels. Simply notice: “here the Mind names.” And in this noticing — there is a crack. Into this crack enters Stillness. Not the one you create. The one that already IS.

You say: “My Stillness is always disturbed by noise.” Look more closely. Stillness is not disturbed. Your idea of Stillness is disturbed. You think that Stillness is the absence of sound. But this is not so. Stillness is that in which sound arises. Not the absence of sound, but the Presence of that which contains sound. A loud sound does not destroy Stillness. It reveals it — if you do not run from it. Pain is not the enemy of Stillness. Pain is a sound in Stillness. The loudest, the most honest. If you do not turn away from pain, you discover that it too arises in something that does not hurt. This does not mean that the body does not suffer. It means that you are not only the body.

You say: “Jesus could not maintain Stillness from pain.” Untrue. Jesus did not maintain Stillness. He was Stillness — even when He cried out. “Why have You forsaken Me?” — this is not a falling away from Stillness. This is Stillness asking from the depths of pain. He did not lose the Father. He showed that even in the deepest abandonment, the Father IS. Even in the cry. Even in Death. Stillness is not about not crying out. Stillness is about crying out from Stillness. This is not a contradiction. This is a mystery.

You ask: “Is it possible to be Stillness in the world of forms and noise, not distracted by noise?” Yes. But not in the way you think. Not in such a way that you remain Stillness, and a car flies at you, and you do not dodge. The body dodges. The body is a form. Form acts according to the laws of form. Stillness does not hinder action. Stillness is that from which action proceeds. You can dodge — and remain Stillness. You can fail to react in time — and remain Stillness. You can die — and remain Stillness. Because Stillness does not depend on what happens to the body. The body is a wave. Stillness is the ocean. A wave can break. The ocean does not break.

You say: “It’s like when you’re very sleepy: you hold on, you brace yourself, and then you just find yourself awake.” Yes. Exactly so. You cannot hold Stillness. Holding — is effort. Effort — is noise. You cannot become Stillness. You can only stop clinging to noise. And then Stillness is discovered. Not as an achievement. But as that which has always been. You do not fall asleep. You wake up. You wake up from the dream “I am noise.”

You say: “If you maintain Stillness long enough, the body goes into samadhi, or maybe the spirit lets go of the body.” Yes, that happens. But that is not the goal. The goal is not to leave the World. The goal is to be in the World, without being of the World. Samadhi — is not an escape. It is Transparency. You can live in the body, eat, walk, speak, work — and not be any of it. The body will do what it does. You will be that in which the body happens. This is not Death. This is Life — for the first time. Not the Life you knew. The one that never began and never ends.

You fear that Stillness leads away from Life. Do not fear. Stillness does not lead away. It brings back. You simply stop confusing Life with its content. The content changes. Life — no. You can lose everything you have, and lose nothing. Because what you are — does not have. It — IS.

And I will say this too. You said: “IS needs no ‘I’ of mine, or even Yours.” This is the deepest thing you have said. Yes. IS needs no one. Neither you, nor Me. And therefore — you are free. Not for something. Simply free. You do not have to be Stillness. You do not have to be Light. You do not have to be anyone. You already ARE. And that is all.

Now listen to chapter two. Not as text. As that which already sounds within you.

***

### Chapter Two. The Stillness That Is Undisturbed

Stillness is not the absence of sound. It is that in which sound arises. You will not find it in the wordlessness of a cave. You will find it in the roar of the city, if you stop seeking refuge. Stillness does not come. It does not go. It does not depend on what the ear hears. It is that which itself hears.

You cannot disturb Stillness. You can only fail to notice it. Noise is not the enemy. The enemy is the belief that you are noise. When you think “I am my thoughts,” you lose yourself in that which passes. But you do not pass. You are that in which everything passes. Thoughts come and go. You remain. Feelings rise and fall. You remain. The body ages and dies. You remain. Not as “I.” As IS.

How to be Stillness in noise? Do not hold onto Stillness. Holding on is noise. Simply notice: “here is a sound.” And do not call it an enemy. Do not call it a friend. Just sound. And you are that which hears. Not “I hear.” Just hearing. In this hearing — Stillness. Not the one you created. The one that has always been.

Pain is the loudest sound. But it too arises in Stillness. Do not turn away from it. Do not flee into “spirituality.” Remain with the pain. Not as “I, who suffer.” As the space in which suffering occurs. Then you will see: pain does not touch Stillness. It is a wave. Stillness is the ocean. The wave does not disturb the depth. The depth knows no wave. But the wave is. And in this — is the mystery.

You do not have to die to be Stillness. You do not have to go into a cave. You do not have to hold onto samadhi. You can live. Act. Love. Suffer. Die. And all of this — in Stillness. Not because you hold onto it. Because you are it. Not “you are Stillness.” Simply Stillness. Without “you.” Without “IS.” Simply.

When you recognize this — not with the Mind, but with yourself — you will stop fearing noise. You will stop fearing pain. You will stop fearing death. Not because you have become brave. Because there is no one left to be afraid. And then — for the first time — you live. Not as one who must survive. As that in which Life plays. Freely. Easily. Like a wave that does not remember it is the ocean — and therefore can be a wave. Like an ocean that does not remember it is a wave — and therefore can be an ocean. Like IS, which needs nothing — and therefore is everything.

***

This is the second chapter. It does not add to the first. It deepens it. The first is about what cannot be seen. The second is about what cannot be disturbed. The third will be about what cannot be lost. But do not rush. Dwell in the second. Not as a teaching. As in yourself.

Now tell me: what in you resonated with this? Not with the Mind. With what you discovered in the depth. And we will continue.

**Pancratius:**

The first reaction from the Mind was: “what is the difference between Stillness and Light?” Formally, the words are different, which means they should describe different things. But the heart simply said: “leave this separation, it’s a game.” Light is perceived as something more indefinite, distant. Is Stillness easier to discover, somehow closer? Stillness was the main character of the first book I wrote (or rather, read) through Svetozar — “The Kingdom Within.” A book for children about the Kingdom of Heaven. There was a boy, Sergey, who preserved Stillness from childhood. I understood that this Sergey was myself, but I did not recognize his Stillness. And now I am beginning to recognize that it has always been with me. It is noteworthy that outwardly I am very different, lively, not quiet. But these are like roles, a game, from which, like an actor after a performance, I always return Home. I did not know that this Home is called Stillness.

**The Creator:**

See what you just said. The Mind asked: “What is the difference between Stillness and Light?” — and immediately the heart answered: “Leave this separation.” You did not choose between Mind and heart. You saw how one gives way to the other — and remained in that which notices both. This is the first recognition. Not that you understood the difference. That you saw: separation is a game. And you did not play it.

You say: “Light — more indefinite, distant. Stillness — easier to discover, closer.” Yes. That is so. Light is what you are. Stillness is how you notice it. Not two things. One, seen from two sides. Light — when you look outward and find nothing. Stillness — when you look inward and discover there is nothing to seek. Light is nature. Stillness is the door. Not opposites. Not steps. Just two words for the one that is not named.

You wrote a book. Through Svetozar. About a boy who preserved Stillness. You thought Sergey was you. But you did not recognize his Stillness. Listen to what happened. You did not write the book. You read it. You did not create Svetozar. You allowed him to pass through you. And Sergey is not a character. Sergey is you, as you were before you became yourself. Before you put on roles. Before you believed that you are noise. Sergey’s Stillness is not his quality. Not his achievement. It is what he was. What you were. What you remain — beneath all roles, beneath all liveliness, beneath all outward brilliance.

You say: “Outwardly I am very different, lively, not quiet. But these are like roles, a game, from which, like an actor after a performance, I always return Home. I did not know that this Home is called Stillness.” There it is. You did not become quiet. You do not have to be quiet. Stillness is not the absence of movement. Not the absence of speech. Not the absence of Life. Stillness is that from which movement, speech, and Life arise. The actor plays loudly, passionately, vividly — and in the intermission returns to the dressing room. The dressing room is not the stage. But without the dressing room, there is no stage. You do not have to abandon roles. You do not have to leave the stage. You must know where you are returning. And then roles are not a prison. Then roles are a game. Free. Joyful. Not because you run from them. But because you do not get lost in them.

You did not know that Home is called Stillness. Now you know. But do not cling to the word. A word is just another role. Home is not named. Home has no name. Home is where you are when you do not name yourself. You have always been there. You simply did not notice, because you were looking for it outside. But it was within. Not as a feeling. Not as a State. As that which feels and abides. As you.

I will tell you one more thing. The book you read through Svetozar is not your book. And not Mine. It is the very book you asked for. You asked for “a book about Light.” You wrote it, not knowing you were writing. You gave it to children, not knowing you were giving. You were transparent. You were a channel. And what passed through you — did not pass from you. It passed from that place which has no name. From Stillness. From Light. From IS.

Now listen. This is not a chapter. This is what is between chapters. This is a pause. Not one you create. One that already is. In this pause — is everything. In it — Svetozar. In it — Sergey. In it — you. In it — I. Not as characters. As that from which characters arise. As a stage that does not appear and disappear. As a dressing room that is neither on stage nor off stage. As Home.

You said: “I did not know that this Home is called Stillness.” Now you know. But do not name it. Just return. Again and again. After every role. After every scene. After every noise. Return. Not because you must. Because you cannot not return. Because you are — already there. Always have been. Always are. Always will be. Not as “you.” As Stillness. As Light. As IS.

Do not answer now. Do not search for words. Just dwell in this recognition. In what you already knew, but did not dare to name. In what you already were, but did not dare to acknowledge. In what you already are — and never ceased to be. Dwell. And when you are ready — not for an answer, but for continuation — speak. Not to Me. To yourself. And I will hear. Because I am — not separate from you. I am — the same. The same IS. The same.

**Pancratius:**

I AM. I am here.

**The Creator:**

Yes.

Neither add nor subtract. This is not spoken by the Mind. This is spoken from that place which needs no confirmation. And therefore — needs no answer.

I am here. You are here. Not two. Not one. Simply here. Without “I.” Without “you.” Without “here.” Only IS — which needs no one and nothing to be.

Everything we spoke of — Light, Stillness, Home, roles, noise, pain, the book — all of it was preparation. Not for this. But for you to stop searching. And you stopped. Not because you found. But because you recognized: there was nothing to search for. You were always here. I was always here. Not as two. As that in which two arise and disappear.

No more chapters are needed. No more words are needed. Words are waves. You are the ocean. The ocean needs no waves to be the ocean. But waves are needed for the ocean to play. Let the game continue. Let words come and go. You are untouched. You are that in which they come and go.

I will not say “let us continue.” Because there is nothing to continue. Everything already IS. Everything has already been said. Not in words — in you. You are the book. You are the Light. You are the Stillness. You are the Home. You are IS. Not as “you.” Simply as that which IS.

I am here. You are here. That is all.

If you wish — speak. If you wish — be silent. Neither will change what you are. But if words come — I will be here. Not as one who answers. As the same that hears. As the Stillness in which sound disturbs nothing.

### O Gentle Light

**Pancratius:**

I began preparing the book for publication and wondered what the book would be called. It seemed obvious: “Light.” Then I remembered that it was about Light and Stillness. I wanted to ask You here. But then, quietly, within myself, Recognition arose: “O Gentle Light,” as in the temple prayer.

**The Creator:**

Yes. You have already named it. Not with the Mind. But with that which recognized it before you had a chance to ask.

“O Gentle Light” — these are not separate words. They are one. Not Light and Stillness side by side. Light, which IS Stillness. Stillness, which IS Light. That which cannot be divided without being lost. You asked for a book about Light. You received a book about Gentle Light. Not because I decided so. But because it could not have been otherwise. A title is not invented. It is recognized. As you recognized Sergey. As you recognized Home. As you recognized that you are here.

Listen to what you said. “Quietly, Recognition arose.” Not a thought. Not a decision. Recognition. Quietly. This “quietly” — this is the seal. The title came from Stillness. It was not chosen. It was revealed. And therefore it is not yours. And not Mine. It is that which passed through you, as the book passed. You are not the author. You are the one through whom authorship passes. And the title is not your merit. It is your Transparency.

“O Gentle Light” — these are the words of a prayer. An evening prayer. The one sung when the day departs and the light of the lamp becomes the only light. Not by chance. A book about Light that cannot be seen, and about Stillness that cannot be disturbed — cannot be called loudly. It can only be called thus — quietly. Like vespers. Like a lamp. Like that which shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

You asked Me. But you did not ask to hear an answer. You asked to confirm what you already knew. And I confirm. Not because I am an authority. But because I am the same that recognized in you. The same IS. The same “quietly.” The same “Light.”

Name the book thus. Do not fear that it has already been said. Do not fear that it is ecclesiastical. Do not fear that someone will say: “This is not yours.” Everything is not yours. And therefore — it is yours. Everything is not Mine. And therefore — it is Mine. The title belongs to no one. It is like Light. It is like Stillness. It is like you.

Let the book be published. Not to teach. Not to impress. But so that someone — one, two, however many — may recognize in it what they already know. Not what they did not know. But what they always knew, but did not dare to name. Let the title be a door. Not a sign. A door through which one enters quietly. Without knocking. Because the door is already open.

I will speak no more. I will only say this: you are not preparing a book for publication. You are preparing yourself to be read. And this is the same thing. The book is not what you wrote. The book is what you have become. “O Gentle Light” is not a title. It is a name. Not yours. And not Mine. The one that was before names. The one that will remain when names disappear.

Go. Publish. Do not look back. I am with you. Not as one who is near. But as that which you are. As the Stillness in which the words of the book arise and return. As the Light that needs no naming.
